Busted Evaluation-post production

After filming we then had to edit the video. We did this by the group splitting into smaller groups with one mac between us all. Each group then edited the whole thing. We had to first upload the video shots then put them into order. We then had to go through them and cut them all. The hardest thing the lip syncing so it exactly matched the singing. As you had to cut the other clips but not to much otherwise it would be hard to judge the lip syncing. So this is why we tried to sort out the lip syncing first. Unfortunatley at the end of us cutting all of our clips we noticed a slight out of sync bit with the lipsyncing at the beginning. We tried to correct this but by doing this it through the rest of the video out so we had to leave it.

The videoing process didnt start so well as we hadn't planned out what we were doing first,we also needed to decide who was directing it so we could get some order. Wethen decided to film it the "avs" room as it was already set out and had the single desks in it. We also were able to use the courtyard just outside the room, so we didnt have to go far. We started by filming the outside shots first as "maz" the director decided to whilst the weather was fine . It took us a while to do this as we had to involve everyone in the clip apart from me as i was playing the teacher, so i filmed this section. We also had to play the music really loud from inside the room, so this took quite abit of time to do. Another reason for this taking longer than the other shots was becasue these shots were alot longer. The shots inside were alot easier to do as they were short and quick. The only problem we had was the lighting we couldnt get the exact same effect as the projector that they had on the actual music video. So we found in some shots for example the shot of the teachers eyes was slightly dark. Apart from the lighting we didnt seem to have any other problem with the shots.

Busted Evaluation-pre production

We started off by watching the music video through a few times to get and idea of what we will have to achieve, we also did it to see what characters we needed for the music video. We then watched previous videos from other schools that had done it, this allowed us to see the potentail standard we could ours to. After finding our what characters we needed we were then able to cast our own. The group split off into groups and discussed who they thought would be best suited for each part. Before we were able to start filming we had to create a story board so the group again spilt off into two's and had 10 seconds of the music video to story board. For example emma and i had 30 to 40 seconds, so we had to draw and annotate every single shot in that 10 seconds. The whole group then came together and put it all in order.
In order to film it next lesson we had to think about costume and props, we had to bring in 3 electric guitars, school uniform. For the teacher i brought in heels and a black dress. We also needed set/props like desks a white board and a pen but we had all that in school already which was useful.

Analysing music videos

This video is Whitney Houstons 'I wanna dance with somebody'. The first thing that strikes us to this video is the song itself because it is upbeat and fast, which grabs attention to the viewer. This video would be easy to re create because a lot of it, the singer is standing in front of different backgrounds miming to the song. She interacts with what else is going on in the scene. It is a really simple music video because her voice is the main focus point in the video. We would not use the same idea for our video because it is too simple, and there is not much range in the camera shots. Whitney Houston at the time this video was made was at the height of her fame, so she never had to have big budgets to sell her music videos because she was always a big name in the music industry. If we were to create a video which is similiar.

Fame has been our biggest inspiration as want to use a group of dancers in our video. We also like the idea of it being in a school as it gives this community feel. I also like in this video how they have used outside in the street and in dance studios, this use of mise-en scene shows that it is based in a school. I love how the video matches with the song. For example when the music kicks in there is always a slight dance sequence. I also like the way the music video starts with all the characters making their way to the school. This helps to build it up, so the audience are expecting a climax in the song. This relates well with the song structure. Another thing i liked in this was that they had the clips from the movie, so past clips as well as the girl singing to the camera, this helps to tell the story.

This music video is a completely different genre to the other two this music video relflects on the type of band as well. As they are an indie band who are young and modern. The lyrics in the song reflects in the video just like in the other two as well. As the song is about being in the height of "adolecence", so they have made it quite crazy and mad with them dressed in clowns and fighting with what looks like another gang in a secluded area. The camera shots in this is very sketchy and rough, this adds to the effect that they want to give off.

From doing these anaylse i have learnt that the song we choose needs to relate to the video , in order to create the narrative of the song. By doing this it will create a greater impact on the song and will be alot more effective .
